All the colors of the rainbow, in one little package!
Despite being known as a 'white' breed, many Cotons are actually born with heavy pigmentation (color). From bright white to deep rich tri-colors (black, brown, and white), Cotons come in a wealth of beautiful colors. However, due to a unique gene known as 'the fading gene', these colors fade very early in life. As a result, most people only know the Coton for its adult coat, which is usually varying shades of white, which leaves us with the easy to spot and flashy white fluff balls we love and adore.
Very few Cotons will retain their color, and those that do will often go through many interesting coat color changes throughout their lives. It is important to know that color has no reflection on the purity of the dogs bloodlines, nor does it affect the health or temperament of the breed. In fact, it is important that color remain a part of the breed to ensure that the pigment on the eyes, nose, and paw pads will remain black and ensure protection from the sun.

Please enjoy these photos of our lovely girl, Marylin Monroe (Momo), as she ages into her brilliant white adult coat. Every photo on this page is the same bright, loving, little girl at a different age.
